Recently, the Laboratory of Optoelectronic Crystals and Devices, School of Physical Sciences, Nankai University has successfully cultivated "green lotus purple" colored sapphire, which is Al2O3 single crystal, Al2O3 single crystals have a high melting point of over 2000 degrees and are second only to diamond in terms of Mohs hardness.
Sapphire and ruby are both valuable gem materials and important crystalline materials for optoelectronic functions. The world's first laser usedchromium-doped alumina monocrystal as a laser gain medium, and sapphirehas been widely used in semiconductor lighting
detectors, lasers, and medical fields.
